General Employment Policy

The General Employment Policy (GEP) is designed for professionals from overseas, Taiwanese and Macao who wish to work in Hong Kong. This policy is not restricted to any industry. The main issue for application qualifications includes: The employment has indeed been obtained, and the work involved is related to their academic qualifications or experience, and cannot be easily obtained by the locals; the remuneration and benefits are similar to the market level; with good education background, technical qualifications or proven professional experience.



Programme Advantages/ Features:

  1. The processing time of application is about 1 to 3 months
  2. More international job opportunities, more rooms for development
  3. You can bring your spouse and unmarried children under the age of 18 to Hong Kong
  4. Meet specific requirements and apply for permanent residence after 7 years



Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Age 18 or above
  2. Has a bachelor's degree or in exceptional circumstances, possessing good technical qualifications, proven professional competence and/or relevant experience and achievements with documentary evidence, could be an alternative
  3. The employment has been indeed obtained before submitting the application and the work most involved must be related to their academic qualifications or work experience, and cannot be easily obtained by the locals
  4. Salaries and benefits (including income, housing, medical and other fringe benefits) must be roughly the same as those of the local professional market at the time.
  5. No criminal records
